Create a stunning vertical effect with feathery stalks that emerge reddish brown in spring and turn a rich golden color in fall. Blooms two to three weeks earlier than common feather reed grass. Thrives in wet soils, yet tolerates drier conditions. Stalks make great cut flowers. Sterile seeds do not produce unwanted seedlings. Care – Thrives in rich, moist soils, but highly adaptable. Best foliage and plumes in full sun; benefits from part shade in hotter locations. Water deeply, regularly during first growing season to establish an extensive root system; tolerates dry spells when established. Cut to the ground in late winter just before new shoots appear. Pruning time: late winter.
