The Design Process
Ted Lare carries the promise of high quality, professional landscape design work and we aim to make the process as simple as possible for homeowners. Our design process can be broken down into three phases: The Initial Visit & Design Consultation, Design Completion, and Planting & Construction. During the initial consultation, your designer will answer any questions you may have about the design process and discuss the scope of your landscaping project. We charge a flat fee of $300 for the first design consultation because we love to hear your ideas and get the conversation started! A minimum of $500 will be charged for the consultation located outside of town, defined as more than 35 miles away from our office. For larger projects and master plans, this fee may increase. Your designer can answer any questions about this process prior to scheduling a meeting. Also ask if we are accepting out of town work before proceeding, as we can not accommodate every location.
If you decide to move forward with a Ted Lare design, your designer will provide an estimation of the cost and time it will take to complete the design. This cost is dependent on the size of the yard and the level of detail required for the master plan. A typical 1/2 acre residence will cost $500 – $1000 to develop a detailed design. A minor revision can be made free of charge, while any major and subsequent revisions will fall under our $100/hour design fee.
When you decide to move forward with Ted Lare construction or planting, design fees will be credited back to you when you are billed for the project. For every $1000 you spend with Ted Lare Design Build, within one year of delivery of the plan, $100 will be credited back to you on your installation invoice.
