Wild Petunia features dainty violet trumpet-shaped flowers at the ends of the stems from early to late summer. Its tomentose oval leaves remain grayish green in color throughout the season. The foliage is covered in small hairs, making it somewhat unpalatable to deer and rabbits, though not truly resistant.

It is an herbaceous perennial with a mounded-to-sprawling form. Its medium texture blends into the garden, but can always be balanced by a couple of finer or coarser plants for an effective composition. This plant will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and is best cleaned up in early spring before it resumes active growth for the season. It is a good choice for attracting bees and butterflies to your yard.
