Kwanzan Flowering Cherry is bathed in stunning clusters of fragrant rose flowers along the branches in early spring, which emerge from distinctive cherry red flower buds before the leaves. It has dark green foliage which emerges coppery-bronze in spring. The serrated pointy leaves turn an outstanding orange in the fall. The smooth dark red bark adds an interesting dimension to the landscape.

It is a deciduous tree with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition. This is a high maintenance tree that will require regular care and upkeep, and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed.
