NewGen Freedom Boxwood is primarily valued in the landscape or garden for its ornamental, slightly oblong, globe-shaped form. It has rich green evergreen foliage. The small glossy oval leaves remain green throughout the winter. It has a more uniform and tighter habit than ‘Winter Gem’ or ‘Wintergreen’ boxwoods, perfect for formal or residential landscapes.

NewGen Freedom Boxwood is a dense multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with a more or less rounded form. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other landscape plants with less refined foliage. It should be pruned yearly in late winter to early spring; if left unpruned, it will open up in the center, especially in spring with new, tender foliage. This cultivar was selected for its excellent resistance to boxwood leafminer and boxwood blight.
