Early Amethyst Beautyberry is primarily grown for its highly ornamental fruit. It features an abundance of magnificent lavender berries from late summer to late fall. It has lavender trumpet-shaped flowers along the branches from early to mid summer, which are interesting on close inspection. It has green foliage throughout the season. The narrow leaves do not develop any appreciable fall color.

Early Amethyst Beautyberry is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with a shapely form and gracefully arching branches. Its average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition.
