Dakota Burgundy Beard Tongue has masses of beautiful spikes of shell pink tubular flowers with lavender overtones, white throats and lavender streaks rising above the foliage from early to mid summer, which are most effective when planted in groupings. The flowers are excellent for cutting. Its attractive serrated pointy leaves emerge brick red in spring, turning burgundy in color with showy dark green variegation and tinges of crimson. As an added bonus, the foliage turns a gorgeous dark red in the fall. The dark red fruits with black overtones are held in abundance in spectacular clusters from late summer to early winter. The dark red stems are very colorful and add to the overall interest of the plant.
