Decorating for fall is one of our favorite parts of the season, next to pumpkin-flavored coffees and cozy sweaters. Here are four fun and easy ways to dress up your home for the season—both inside and out!
Decor Inspirations For the Landscape
Your porch decor makes a statement to neighbors, guests, and your household, day after day. Spread the cozy vibes of fall with these ideas for autumn-inspired porch decor.
Autumn Porch Vignette
Go all-in with the colors of the season with a porch vignette brimming with fall flair!
2 additional fall accents, like a straw bale, lantern, corn stalk, or autumn-inspired doormat
How to Style:
Arrange mums on both sides of your porch stairway; if you’ve purchased four pots, place two on the lower stairs and two on the next stair up. (If your staircase is narrow, arrange your mums on only one side with a pot on each stair.) Arrange pumpkins in groups of three or five near your doorstep or on the stairs with your mums, if there’s room. Place your additional accent to one side of your doorway. Finish with a fall wreath on the door.
Monochrome Porch Decor
This pure-white motif will create a stark contrast with the bold colors around your neighborhood. The crisp color palette is ultra-sophisticated, and yet it works for Halloween thanks to its “ghostly” feel.
Transfer the mums into the white pots. Next to your doorway, place the 8” and 6” pot next to each other, placing the chair or plant stand behind with the second 8” pot. Arrange the white pumpkins around the pots of mums. If desired, add other white accent decor like lanterns or statuary to the vignette.
Indoor Decor Inspirations
If decorating for fall makes you feel good, adding live plants to your autumn decor will make it all the more special! These simple ideas are sure to make a big impact from Halloween to Thanksgiving.
Fall Centerpiece
This stunning centerpiece uses a pumpkin as a vase to display the season’s signature blooms.
You’ll Need:
1 pumpkin, fresh or artificial
Seasonal flowers, like mums and asters
Your choice of foliage
How To Style:
We’re offering a fun and interactive class on October 17th to show you designer techniques for assembling this centerpiece! You can take the class at our garden center, or you can choose to pick up a class kit containing all the supplies you need and follow along online! Learn more about our classes here.
Pumpkin Succulent Garden
This ultra-popular pumpkin planter was a popular class last year, and it’s still one of our favorite ways to show off succulents in the fall. Let this take on an indoor succulent garden decorate your tabletop, accent tables, shelves, or mantel!
(Optional) Mod podge and choice of non-toxic acrylic paints
How to Style:
Cut off the top of the craft pumpkin. If you want to customize the look of your planter, you can paint the pumpkin with a coat of Mod Podge, allow it to dry, and paint with your favorite paints. Adding a little baking soda to the paint will help give the paint a clay-like matte finish.
Next, fill with soil blend. Carefully repot the succulents into the planter. (Note: If they can’t all fit, you can cut off the tops of some succulents to make a smaller version and stick them in the soil.) To conceal the cut edge of the planter, use hot glue on the edge of the pumpkin to stick decorative moss along the rim. Fill in any other bare or sparse areas with more decorative moss.
