Office Assistant

Job Description

Annual Flower Maintenance Manager

Job Description

  • Design and install annual flower plantings for commercial and residential clients for spring, summer, fall and winter.
  • Communicate and meet with clients on their flower color choices and other preferences.
  • Order flowers, plants, winter greens and embellishments for each season.
  • Schedule and route planting teams on a daily basis during each season to accomplish plantings in a timely manner.
  • Establish and schedule 3 teams for watering and fertilizing plants throughout the seasons.
  • Stage and organize plant material for crews.
  • Inspect plantings and work performed by teams for quality
  • Meet with new clients to develop creative designs and estimates for flowers and on-going care services of seasonal planters and flowers.
  • Deliver estimates to clients and follow up to grow our flower planting division.
  • Ongoing communications with existing clients.

Skills & Requirements

  • Previous management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of annual flowers and tropical plants for all seasons.
  • Experience with annual planting design for planters and larger planting bed installations for the different seasons
  • Time management skills and multitasking capabilities, as it is common to work on many projects at any given time.
  • Communication skills- comfortable with one-on-one and group interactions between clients and employees. Good presentation skills when speaking about proposals and clients.

Landscape Maintenance Manager

Job Description

  • Manage a team of 8-12 people throughout the year to accomplish the tasks below-
  • Design and install annual plantings for commercial and residential clients.
  • Spring maintenance activities: edging, mulching, pruning, general cleanup.
  • Ongoing summer bed & planting maintenance programs for planting beds and annual plantings.
  • Fall cleanup: cut down and leaf removal programs.
  • Meet with new clients and develop custom maintenance packages for clients.
  • Deliver estimates to clients and follow up to grow our maintenance division.
  • Ongoing communications with existing clients.

Garden Center Greenhouse Manager

 

Ted Lare is looking for a motivated, energetic, greenhouse manager! The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated, team player with a horticulture background. The ideal candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about plants such as annuals, tropical plants, houseplants,herbs and vegetables as well as  enjoy a fast paced work environment.

Job Description

  • This position reports directly to the garden center manager.
  • Supervise and create task lists for greenhouse staff of 2-6 people on a daily basis.
  • Curate and order plant collections for the greenhouse including annuals, vegetables, herbs, tropical plants, houseplants and succulents
  • Manage the care of above plant collections including watering, fertilizing, dead heading and disease & pest management.
  • Determine greenhouse layout for plants and merchandise.
  • Help determine annual plantings on grounds for each season.
  • Handling paperwork for ordering and receiving.
  • Develop relationships and assist customers with their orders when needed.
  • Answering phone calls and emails on general greenhouse plant or product questions.
  • Work with vendors on delivery schedules, credits and returns.
  • Help open and close the store on certain days.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in horticulture field.
  • Plant knowledge of annuals, tropical plants, houseplants, vegetables and herbs.
  • Ability to diagnose, manage and treat greenhouse pests and diseases.
  • Plant care knowledge including watering, fertilizing and treatments.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Must be face paced on a computer, as well as able to use Microsoft and Excel.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work most weekends.

This is a working supervisor position leading a crew of 2-3 people.

Various tasks include:

  • Creation of Planting Beds
  • Building stone walls – limestone, boulder, etc.
  • Building patios out of natural stone and man-made pavers
  • Constructing Paths and Stairways
  • Fire Pit Construction
  • Water Feature Construction
  • Grading and Site Work as Required
  • Skid Loader / Excavator Operation
  • Laying out jobs and interacting with clients on the job site

Landscape Installers – Planting & Construction

Ted Lare Design Build is looking for motivated, self-starters to pursue a career in the landscaping industry. Previous experience in the landscaping field is a plus, but not required. A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the desire to learn new skills is required for success.

You will likely be exposed to both planting and construction tasks in your first year on the job including:

Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader

Ted Lare Design Build is looking for motivated, self-starters to fill an immediate position for a landscape maintenance crew leader. If you are looking to further your career, we are interested in forming a long term relationship with talented, hardworking individuals. This is a working supervisor position leading a crew of 2-3 people.

You will leading a maintenance crew responsible for all aspects of commercial and residential landscape maintenance.  Routine tasks throughout the year will include tree trimming, shrub pruning, dead heading flowers, edging landscape beds, weeding, and mulching.  In a typical day you may visit 1 to 3 properties and are responsible for keeping properties looking amazing for our clients.  It can be a fast paced work environment as there is typically a lot to accomplish every week. We are looking reliable, hard-working individuals that do not mind getting their hands dirty and take pride in their workmanship.    

Various tasks include:

  • Weeding and spraying for weeds
  • Mulching
  • Edging planting beds
  • Seasonal Annual Flower Plantings
  • Laying out annual plantings and interacting with clients on the job site
  • Pruning, Trimming, Dead-heading
  • Plant replacements and filling areas with new plants when needed

Lawncare Chemical Applicator

Ted Lare Design Build is looking for a motivated, self-starter to fill an immediate position for a licensed chemical applicator. If you are looking to further your career, we are interested in forming a long term relationship with talented, hardworking individuals. This is a full time position we are looking to fill immediately for the upcoming season.  

You will be responsible for a large portion of our properties across the Des Moines Metro area.  You must be dependable and a good communicator, as clients often want to talk about routine issues with their lawn.
